January-February 2012 in sandwiches

Dear r/eatsandwiches, thank you for visiting my blog.
(please ignore all the Hebrew around here)

This post was created with only you in mind, as I wanted to showcase the sandwiches I gladly ate in the last two months.
On this blog my co-writers review food venues in our local are (Tel Aviv, Israel), but I really wanted to do a piece on all the awesome sandwiches  I've digested since the begging of 2012 and share the miracle of food with you all, the people that supply me with my daily dose of sandwich porn.

There are two more days till the end of this month, and my sandwich priorities are to visit a nearby bagel based sandwich place tonight (they have this to offer), and to go to a place I haven't been to in a long time - (called La Gaterie) they specialize in one type of sandwich only; a huge butter croissant, with an assortment of cold cuts and cheeses to pick from, all topped with a poached egg (tucked inside).

I really hope you enjoy this visit and my photos of sandwiches.
Feel free to leave questions in comment form, or on r/eatsandwiches.

400gr. of beef pastrami, lettuce, tomato, horseradish sauce, mustard and a sauce made with mustard and date syrup on rye

Sweet bun grilled cheese, w. pineapple, corn, olives, tomatoes & eggplants, w. garlic & pesto sauces

Chicken shawarma in laffa bread, with hummus an tahini, and a falafel ball on the side

Roast beef, corned beef, mustard, pesto with a side of olives and kabanos

Corned beef in Moroccan bread, w. lettuce, tomato, mustard & horseradish ailoli. The sides are pickles, a salad and sauteed cabbage+onions & lovely home-fries

Steamed and then lightly grilled chicken breast in a ciabatta bread w. tomatoes, lettuce and mustard

Green Yemeni style falafel, with tahini and salad, in a pita

Roast beef in a soft baguette, with deep fried eggplants, tomato, balsamic sauce and mustard

A pita filled with chicken shawarma, a huge piece of flour coated deep fried eggplant, all smothered with tahini, w. a falafel ball on top

Pulled short rib sandwich, in a grilled sweet bun, with chef made ketchup and lightly brined cucumbers

Shawarma in a lafa, with lots of fresh salad, all coated with amba - a sauce based on ripe mangoes w. fenugreek, mustard vinegar and tumeric

The pictures were not ranked in an order, all of the sandwiches were (almost) equally great.
If I had to pick my favorite one, it would probably be the pastrami one (first image).
Again, thanks for visiting!

P.S.
I actually ate a lot more sandwiches than shown here, but that happened mostly at home, so I didn't document them for my blog.
Sorry :(

  8. I really wanted to comment on how fat you probably are, but two months is a long period of time to have only 12 sandwiches.
